(Art pieces from the South Africa: the art of a nation)
A history that is steeped in multiculturalism, colonialism, war and heritage has become a bed of inspiration that has inspired art and creative practices dating back over several millenniums.
The items on display range from simple etchings created in caves and dated back more than 100,000 years through to modern day pieces that were inspired by cultural heritage and the national political history and in some cases unrest.
Although now over, the exhibition South Africa at the British Museum was one that gave a deeper insight into the various elements and dimensions of life in this rainbow nation.
